ORC (Organic Ranking Cycle) is a skid mounted system that can be installed with a generator set to produce electricity by utilizing the waste heat of the engine. It maximizes efficiency and reduces energy costs through self-generation by utilizing the heat from the exhaust flue gases of the engine (generator set) along with the heat from the jacket water of the engine in order to produce electricity from it.


The operation of ORC is simple, heat from the heat source flows into the module through a heat transfer fluid. The working fluid is transformed into pressurized vapor using the heat from the source. This vapor is run through a turbine where its thermal energy generates mechanical energy, which drives a generator that is coupled to the turbine. The vapor is then condensed by heat extractor and then this liquid working fluid is injected back into the evaporator by a pump.
